Biometric Information Privacy - What You Need to Know!
The use of biometric data is becoming increasingly common for healthcare providers and employers. Since Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) was enacted in 2008, class-action lawsuits alleging that employers are using biometric data in a way that violates the Act’s consent, notice, and disclosure requirements are on the rise. BIPA requires that employers obtain prior consent from employees regarding how the data obtained from their fingerprints, iris scans, and face prints is collected, used, and stored.
To assist you in understanding current biometric privacy laws, including the stringent Illinois Biometric Privacy Act (BIPA), subject matter experts, Meredith Duncan and Lindsay Dailey of Polsinelli PC, present this webinar to help you understand your obligations and discuss best practices for compliance and avoid liability.
