Emergency Preparedness and Compliance: The New CMS Standards
Surveying for compliance with the new emergency preparedness requirements became effective on November 15, 2017. Facilities must comply with the Emergency Preparedness regulations to participate in the Medicare or Medicaid program. This workshop is designed to allow attendees to understand the new CMS requirements, how to take a “programmatic approach” versus relying on “policies”, and using a Hazard Vulnerability Assessment as the foundation for developing an emergency operations plan. The day will include a tabletop exercise that is led by a facilitator using clinically relevant emergency scenarios that are designed to challenge an emergency plan and fulfill one tabletop requirement.
